PlugFest! 05

JADL Implementation Fest 07

You can help to transform training. Whether you represent a procurement agency, a training system developer, a researcher, or an organization with training needs, there are opportunities to work with DARWARS.

If you represent an organization with training needs: We want to work with you to provide DARWARS Enterprise Solutions that will help your organization become more effective. We can assist you to deliver training to distributed students and monitor their competency development through our unique tool set. There are also opportunities to acquire fielded systems, and to co-develop specifications for future functionality of either individual training systems or the DARWARS Core. Please let us know how we can help you. Also, we encourage you to attend our PlugFest! events where we conduct roundtable discussions on training methodologies and plan future enhancements to the Core capabilities.

If you represent a training system developer or an interested professional: DARWARS is more than a successful project – it is also a community of training systems whose members use the DARWARS Core to leverage their own experiential training packages. We are looking for partners to join this growing DARWARS community, and we have made it very easy to join. The DARWARS Core is designed to be as close to plug-and-play as possible, so that new systems can be initially integrated within hours, and tightly compatible within a few days. If you have an experiential training system, we encourage you to become a DARWARS Partner, to join in the DARWARS community with its goal of delivering experienced-based learning environments, providing the tools to create them, and the refining the infrastructure to unite them in an effective training marketplace.

After a successful PlugFest! conference in 2005 in which many new training systems were added to DARWARS in very short order, will be holding another PlugFest! in 2006, and we’d like you to participate. To start now, extensive documentation is available so that you can begin planning how to integrate with DARWARS in the coming year. Levels of Integration
Levels of integration have been defined so that the process of becoming part of DARWARS is a progressive one, where additional effort brings corresponding benefits. The following five levels describe the increasing responsibilities of training systems at successive levels of integration:

Level 1: Basic Launch
Launch a training event, as defined by a Training Package, from the DARWARS Interface command line. The training system may require additional user input to initialize and terminate the session.

Level 2: Good Citizen
Launch and conclude a training session cleanly; that is, without the need for any information beyond what is supplied in the command line. Participation in the event is recorded in the training record for the trainee.

Level 3:Workstation Independence
Record all persistent state information about a user’s training experience in the DARWAR Core, so that trainees can move freely from one computer to another for successive training sessions.

Level 4:Training Interoperability
Read the Objective-Condition-Measure document, which discusses how training systems get information from and provide information to the DARWARS training profile for each user. Measures linked to objectives and conditions are recorded at the end of a training session. These measures become available at the start of subsequent training sessions and support assessment and recommendation of training packages.

Level 5: Training System Adaptation
Adapt the instruction to the particular strengths and weaknesses expressed in the training profile in order to provide a tailored training experience for each trainee.
